Frankie… they really ARE OUT OF COMMISSION!
Too expensive to bring back, keep flying, and we can get BETTER recon and intelligence
from cheaper, more reliable systems that won’t put a pilot in harm’s way. They tried to bring them back ONE back as a “quick reaction” plane, but it couldn’t pass the budget restraints, never mind the “maintenance” and spare parts that are already consumed and no longer being made. Long live the memory!
An awesome asset that has made it’s mark on history.

I love this plane. I actually have a one of a kind painting of it at home. I know they say this plane isn’t in comission anymore, but I wonder?
Anyhow, it’s a fun model kit to have. Takes a while to put together because of all the stickers and stripes on the aircraft, but it’s worth it when you get it together!

The blackbird is best looking airplane in my opinion. I’m not sure why I haven’t thought to build one until now, I may have to pick up this kit.
